I've been doing a bit of work today for my good friend Beryl Whiting.
Beryl has been blogging for just under a year and had set it up herself and it worked just fine. But I have been itching to get my hands on it and reconfigure it to work harder for her - which as you can see, I have now done - its's now more of a Blogsite.
But I want to share with you something she achieved without my help that clearly illustrates why you absolutely should be using blogging as a marketing tool for your business...
Besides NLP Coaching and Training, Beryl also works with energy balancing for health and performance. The system she uses is called e-Lybra. I wanted to know the correct spelling so I could create a category for related posts ahead of her launching a new (and third blog for Beryl - her other is at www.Yoga4HealthyLiving.com), so I googled 'elybra' and there, in positions no 4 and 5, appeared Beryl's Blog. And she didn't even use the 'keywords' function in the post form!
That is a perfect example of the power of blogging.
One thing it made me realise too, is that a 'search this blog' tool would be natty as when I clicked the Google result link, I just landed on the front page. Because at that stage, Beryl wasn't using Categories, it was impossible to find the related post(s) without trawling through the Archives. A 'search' tool would solve this issue and help visitors locate articles and posts they are interested in. I'm off to see if Typepad offer it already and I'm just being slow on the uptake!
